Previously, I wrote about the Invent Your World Challenge, open to students in North America, age 12 - 20 and students outside the U.S., age 12 - 24.

This is a great contest even if you don’t win anything from it, because inventing something to solve a problem:

  1. Solves a problem and helps someone
  2. Is going to help on all the applications, whether getting into college, job applications, other engineering scholarship applications, which ask: Why did you choose engineering?

So there is really no way to lose with this contest, especially since you can get some feedback from the contest sponsors at any time during the year. You don’t have to wait until that ONE time each year when they run the contest.

So I embedded a video they produced to try and help you jumpstart some invention project ideas. They are talking in terms of a group project, but the concepts apply to working by yourself or in a group.
